Biography:
I am a fifth-year doctoral candidate in Hebrew Bible/Old Testament at Oriel College, University of Oxford, under the supervision of Prof. Hindy Najman. I completed my undergraduate degree in Biblical Studies and Mediaeval History from the University of St Andrews in 2017., and then completed an MA Theology from King’s College London in 2018 and an MSt Theology from the University of Oxford in 2019. My master’s at Oxford focused on exemplary figures within the Dead Sea Scrolls.
My doctoral research investigates how prayer was used in the Hellenistic-Jewish period to understand or change history through the relationship between prayer, revelation, and writing. Reading the books of Nehemiah and Daniel, I highlight the central role of revelation in interpretating prayer-texts and how that works as a hermeneutical lens to understand the interactions of prayer with time and history.
