Ofula is a Tutorial Fellow in World Christianity at Wycliffe Hall and an ordained Priest in the All Saints Cathedral Diocese of the Anglican Church of Kenya. He studied his BA in Government and Public Administration at Moi University, Kenya, MA and Ph.D., in World Christianity and History of Religions at Princeton Seminary, New Jersey, USA. His research areas include World Christianity, African spiritualities, Religion in African literary writings, ritual theory and practice, new religious movements, religion in the public sphere, adolescents and youth formation. He is a member of the American Academy of Religion, Society for the Scientific Study of Religion, African Association for the Study of Religion and International Sociological Association Research Committee for the Sociology of Religion.
