Joshua Chan, a current DPhil student in New Testament, has been elected to a 2026 Emerging Scholars Fellowship by the Catholic Biblical Association of America (CBA).
The annual fellowship is awarded to four graduate students who demonstrate exceptional potential to make lasting contributions to the discipline of biblical studies. The CBA is a scholarly organisation that supports biblical scholars from a range of traditions.
Joshua's doctoral research, titled 'Conceptions of Tongues in Early Reception History', aims to offer fresh exegetical insights into complex biblical passages concerning 'tongues' by examining how these texts were received and interpreted in early receptions, in contrast with modern readings.
Speaking about the award, Joshua says: “I am honored to have been elected to this Fellowship. I hope to contribute meaningfully to the field of biblical studies through research that engages both academic scholarship and the global church.”
The faculty extends its congratulations to Joshua on this achievement.
