Political theology has become a key reference point in debates about nationalism, populism, democracy, and religion — yet there is little consensus about what political theology actually means.
‘What Is Political Theology?', a new publication co-authored by Professor Luke Bretherton, Regius Professor of Moral & Pastoral Theology at the Faculty of Theology and Religion, alongside Dr Vincent W. Lloyd and Professor Valentina Napolitano, brings theology, critical theory, and anthropology into dialogue and challenges the field’s traditional boundaries. The book opens political theology to decolonial, Black, feminist, queer, and ethnographic approaches from the Global North and Global South.
