Jane Shaw is Professor of the History of Religion. For the academic year 2025-6, she has been awarded a Fellowship at the Swedish Collegium for Advanced Study and a Leverhulme Emeritus Fellowship to work on her book Seeking Infinity: Mystics in the Modern World (contracted to Penguin Allen Lane). Until September 2025, she was also Principal of Harris Manchester College and a Pro-Vice-Chancellor (without portfolio) in the University. Her books include Miracles in Enlightenment England (Yale University Press, 2006); Octavia, Daughter of God: the Story of a Female Messiah and her Followers (Jonathan Cape and Yale University Press, 2011); and the co-authored Gen Z, Explained: The Art of Living in a Digital Age (University of Chicago Press, 2021).
