Professor Jane Shaw

Research Interests

Religion in the modern west (eighteenth-, nineteenth- and twentieth-centuries); modern mysticism; the reception of ‘Eastern’ religion in Britain; new religious communities and movements in the early twentieth century; religion and the arts; the impact of technology on society.

Currently writing a book on spirituality and religion in the early twentieth century.

A member of two collaborative, interdisciplinary research projects:

Understanding the iGeneration, the values, norms and mindsets of those born after 1995. Funded by the Knight Foundation, and in collaboration with the Center for Advanced Study of the Behavioral Sciences, Stanford University.
