Biography:
I am a Gordon Milburn Junior Research Fellow in the Study of Mysticism and Religious Experience at the Faculty of Theology and Religion and Campion Hall, University of Oxford. Until 2024 September, I was a Departmental Lecturer in Buddhism and the Study of Religion at the same Faculty, in association with Lady Margaret Hall. I completed my DPhil in 2022 at the Faculty of Theology and Religion and St John’s College. During my time in Oxford, I have taught lectures, tutorials, and classes on a range of topics in Buddhism, mysticism, and religious studies, and have supervised students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
My research focuses on Buddhist philosophy, with particular emphasis on the Abhidharma and Yogācāra traditions. As part of my current fellowship, I explore the theme of Buddhist “mysticism”, examining various dimensions of the non-discursive experience that accompanies enlightenment in the Yogācāra school. I also have a strong interest in Buddhist commentarial literature—specifically, how commentators have shaped the identity of their respective traditions—and in the comparative study of doctrinal developments across Buddhist and other philosophical traditions of ancient India
