'As of Friday 3rd July, Professor Jan Joosten, who was Regius Professor of Hebrew, will no longer be employed by the University. The news of his offences came as a great surprise and shock to our academic community, and has had a profound impact upon the students and staff with whom he worked. We utterly condemn his crimes and express our deep concern for the victims of this abuse and exploitation. The students and staff in the Faculty have been informed of this development and reminded of the support available'.
