Jenn Strawbridge and Erin Heim shortlisted for Vice-Chancellor’s Awards

The Faculty of Theology and Religion are proud to announce that Professor Jenn Strawbridge and Dr Erin Heim have been shortlisted for this year’s Vice-Chancellor’s Awards. They were nominated in the Inclusive Teaching and Assessment Award category for their work on Diversifying the Curriculum in Biblical Studies at Oxford.

The Vice-Chancellor’s Awards are a University-wide celebration of our outstanding people. They celebrate excellence, dedication, courage, ambition and inspirational contributions to Oxford’s mission.

What was previously five separate groups of awards has become a University-wide celebration for staff across Oxford. There were 250 award entries across the 11 categories this year, representing 1,500 individuals.

Jenn Strawbridge and Erin Heim have commented:

'We are delighted by this news and grateful to the students who have taught us so much over the last few years with this new paper (‘Why Women, the Environment, Colonisation, and Black Lives Matter to New Testament Interpretation’). It is a joy to see the excellent work in New Testament studies at Oxford recognised at this level.'

Prof. Willilam Wood, Chair of the Faculty, also commented:

I was delighted to learn that Professor Strawbridge and Dr Heim were shortlisted for a Vice-Chancellor’s award in the Inclusive Teaching and Assessment category. Their new undergraduate paper is— impressively— called ‘Why the environment, women, colonialisation and Black lives matter to New Testament Interpretation’, and it has become one of our most popular undergraduate options. It is a real point of pride, and to their great credit, that our Faculty is able to offer such a paper, and that it is so popular with our students.

The winners and highly commended nominees will be announced at a ceremony at the Sheldonian Theatre in May. All staff will be invited to a Vice-Chancellor's Awards showcase, taking place in May, to celebrate the success of our colleagues. Registration for the showcase will open in April.
