Dr Cressida Ryan

Biography:

Cressida Ryan read Classics (MA, MPhil) at the University of Cambridge before becoming a secondary school teacher. She then completed a PhD at the University of Nottingham (“The reception of Sophocles’ Oedipus at Colonus in Eighteenth-Century England and France”). After her PhD she was the Classics Outreach Officer for the University of Oxford, and then the Schools Liaison and Access Officer at Merton College, Oxford. She now teaches New Testament Greek.

Research Interests:

Sophocles, especially the Oedipus at Colonus. The reception of Sophocles in Europe 1500-1800. Neo-Latin drama, especially British Neo-Latin 1600-1700. Language pedagogy.
